5/5
I have just completed the 6 week puppy training course designed by Abbie. It was delivered outside and one to one because of covid restrictions. I have a 4 month old sprocker puppy and although this is my fourth dog I have learned so much more about dog behaviour and psychology. Abbie is full of helpful advice and tips and has such a wonderful way with animals that my puppy just loved the classes and , most of the time, was responsive and eager to learn. It is hard work though, as Abbie makes sure that the human has lots of practice too-I always finished the sessions exhausted but full of ideas and techniques. A very helpful part of the course is the weekly feedback forms and lesson notes that Abbie sends after each class which helped to remind me of everything that had been covered in the session and gave me tailored tips on how to train my puppy. I would highly recommend Abbie and am looking forward to doing a further training/agility class with her later in the year. Thank you for a great course!
Peggy and I have loved our classes with Abbie! We have learnt so much despite Peggy being my fifth Field Spaniel puppy! Abbie has taught me new and refreshing ways to train Peggy, using simple but effective reward based techniques. Our lessons were completed entirely over Zoom. Abbie sent me clear step by step instructions each week, including all the stages by video, allowing me to see what we would be learning. We would talk it through over Zoom during our lesson and go through any questions I may have. I would then practise it all week and send Abbie a video of our best efforts before the next session. Abbie was available to answer any questions I had during the week and was also very knowledgeable about anything I needed help with. Peggy was a lockdown puppy and we have definitely had our challenges, but I have never worried as Abbie has given me all the tools I need to deal with any unwanted behaviours. We have laughed and "Yes'd" our way through six weeks of lockdown, every coat pocket has mature cheddar and chopped up sausages alongside my dog poo bags and we have both enjoyed every single minute. I am really looking forward to doing some agility with Peggy and Abbie in the summer - a first but you only live once! Thank you Abbie for your patience and help, I know that your business will go from strength to strength. xxx
I guess when I first considered animal behaviourists I wasn’t convinced but I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong. You are so knowledgeable and as well as helping to train Boots you are training me too. You have so much faith in my dogs ability to learn. You took a comprehensive history of my dog and the problems I was having before even meeting with us and you provided an excellent report on where you thought the root of our problems were. Working together during lockdown has not been easy as we have had to meet outdoors and the weather hasn’t always been favourable but this has not dampened your enthusiasm. After each lesson I get provided with a report on progress made plus my ‘homework’. Boots is still a work in progress but I can see improvements each week, even the tiniest of things gives me the confidence that I am not a lousy Mum’. Boots is my first dog and I know I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning but you are helping us both to correct this. Boots still has a problem with other dogs but he will now sit and wait for his food, only going to it when I say. He will sit and wait by the front door before going for his walk, he will sit and wait in the car until I tell him to come out. He will even sit in the field and wait even when I walk to the other side and do the silly dance you love so much to excite him. He just looks at me disdainfully until I call him. These may seem small things but they are huge for Boots and me. We are still working on the ‘look at me’ and again it only works if I put on the silly voice you love to use. I am sure I am great entertainment for my neighbours; talking in a squeaky voice and doing a Native American rain-dance on the village green in front of a dog who couldn’t look more embarrassed if he tried. All joking aside, I cannot measure how much help you have been. At one stage, before working with you I had reached a point where I was considering if I would have to rehome my beautiful boy because I just wasn’t good enough. You have shown me I AM good enough, but I needed as much training as Boots did. There is nothing I can think of which would make your services any more perfect than they already are. I have already had two block sessions with you and will be booking another if you can bear it so that we can work on the beach and in the countryside during good weather. Thank you Abbie, you have saved Boots and me.
Abbie has dog sat both our dogs twice now. The first occasion was a weekend but the second time was for a six week period. Abbie moved into our home both times as she is 100% reliable and trustworthy and the dogs were incredibly well looked after. We were kept updated by receiving photos of our dogs on their walks as well as in and around home. It was so comforting knowing our lovely pets were so well looked after, happy and settled. On arriving home we couldn’t tell that Abbie had been living in our home as she left it immaculately clean. We certainly recommend Abbie as a dog sitter.
We can’t recommend Abbie enough. Abbie is a natural with dogs and provides a very friendly and professional service. Abbie goes above and beyond to listen to her customers, help problem-solve and helped us get the best out of our dog.
We are also incredibly grateful for Abbie’s assistance in chaperoning our Best Pooch to our wedding! It wouldn’t have been the same without you both there 🙂
